Customer Reviews about Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital

  • Very friendly staff. Sadly, my pet passed away as I was bringing her in through the door. They graciously cleaned her up and wrapped her in a blanket for me to view her one last time. After, they placed her remains very thoughtfully in a container for me to bring her home in. All this, and they never asked me for a dime. Words cannot describe what this meant to me. You folks are a class act. If I can bring myself to having another pet, you can be sure this is where I will bring them. Thank you so very, very much.

  • From checking my puppy, BUCKLE, in at the front desk, to the vet technicians, and the doctors, he was handled with great care and concern while being treated for the parvovirus. He had to be hospitalized for 3 days, and I was encouraged to visit him. I was also kept informed, by the doctors, during his entire stay and was able to call and get updates on him, during the day. I also felt like I was part of the healing process as one of the doctors asked if I could try to get Buckle to eat during one of my visits. When I returned with him for a recheck the following week, two of the vet techs came into the room to check on him and give him a hug just because they wanted to express their care. THANK YOU!!!

I took my dog in with a wound cause by a bite of of another dog, they took us in immediately and check the wound cleaned it up and started an IV the doctor comes to tell me they wanted to keep the dog in for two days for observation and then maybe take an x ray to see if there was extended damage or fracture. Question, why wait two days? Needed less to say that it would cost me over $1000 to start. So I requested the x-ray to be done first obviously they did not like that, and of course the x-ray shows no damage except the cut about 3/4 of an inch long. So I ask if it was going to be sutured the dr says no that it should heal on its own. But they insist I should leave the dog hospitalized. I decided to take time dog home , why would I leave him for a small wound they refused to suture well when they brought Brownie out, I see it’s leg wrapped in a bandage for the needle of the IV but when they hand it over Brownie starts bleeding just like when I bought it in. They bandaged the place where they put the needle but we had to get napkins from the bathroom to hold the dog’s blood from the wound, they wouldn’t even put a gauze over it let alone a bandage. Well I paid over $500 for and IV and x-ray and not even a gauze over the wound. This people are money hungry they don’t care for nothing else. Just terrible!!!
